The Beginning of Enzo
The base and torso for Enzo started out as a cardboard model. Then it was covered with fiberglass.
It was my first time doing something like this, but it was worth the skills and knowledge I gained. It wasn't without its hazards though.
I was almost finished with the base this morning. I was finish sanding the final flaws and the base fell off the saw horses and cracked. So, it was back to the fiberglass process. It was still a good thing, because it pointed out other structural flaws that needed to be fixed.
Torso Rotates on Base
Stacking the torso onto the base, you can see therobot begin to show. The torso will rotate probably 180 degrees left and right. This will require a structure inside the robot to allow rotation without interfereing with internal connections.
The chest of the torso will contain a glowing blue or red LED to indicate the robot is activated.
The torso will rotate 180 degrees left and right and there will be robotic arms on each side.
The torso will rotate using a single motor that moves forward and backward on a circular "lazy suzan" track.
Wait! Where's the Head!
I will modify the circuitry of the "Animatronic Elvis" and give him a new face. Instead of the original voice board that is installed, his personality and voice will be controlled by an on-board computer program that will allow Enzo to show emotion and converse with people.
There's a few sites on the Internet where someone has already done this. I will get a collection of those links and post them here. Then while I'm working on the inards of Enzo's head, I'll keep the posts rolling.
